The tools and products of remote sensing provide valuable information for environmental problem solving and engaging educational materials. With 20 years experience in the field of aerial photograph interpretation and mapping, my focus is to introduce and advance the understanding and use of these tools and resources to audiences including environmental professionals, resource managers, educators and youth.
Since 1995, the Resource Inventory and Analysis Program has been developing and applying methods for mapping Hudson River wetland environments from aerial photographs. A second focus area is research and development of mapping standards for the Agricultural Districts Program for providing support statewide to counties participating in program.
Extension and outreach activities focus on hands-on workshops using the tools of remote sensing and mapping sciences - especially aerial photographs, both recent and historic to explore and analyze changing landscapes.
